Aliya has taught and danced professionally for more than 20 years.
Originally
from Boston, she currently resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and has
traveled to Egypt and Turkey to study dance history as well as
technique. Aliya continues to learn from other dance specialists.
Her sister and daughter, as well as many former
students, are also professional performers who respect and find great joy in Middle Eastern dance.
Aliya has led several dance troupes, edited a dance newsletter, and taught workshops in the U.S., France, and Germany.
